Jones Civic CenterClearGuard Plus is a state of the art water repellent formulation which provides a durable subsurface, clear protective barrier against water, oil, water-based dirt and oil-based dirt. ClearGuard Plus combines the best of siloxane and florochemical technology to protect all types of masonry, brick, unglazed tile, grout, terra cotta, and stone. It provides oil and water repellency, stain resistance and makes surfaces easier to clean.

Application Specifics:

Surface Preparation:
Surface preparation depends on substrate placement, type and strength, curing and finishing processes, age, condition, previous contamination, and the presence of previous coatings. Surfaces should be clean from dust, dirt, oils, grease curing compounds, other coatings, efflorescence, and latencies before applying ClearGuard Plus.
  • Remove all loose debris, dust, dirt, oil and latencies from substrate by power washing and mechanical scraping.(See list below.)
  • Repair any damaged mortar and fill all cracks with appropriate filling material.
  • Before using any surface preparation method a test patch should be preformed with the customer’s approval to ensure that their needs are met.
  • New concrete should be allowed to cure for at least 28 days before applying ClearGuard Plus.
Application:
  • ClearGuard Plus comes ready to use; however, it is recommended that container be shaken or stirred before application.
  • Can be applied by brush, roller, or low-pressure (pump-up) sprayer.
  • Apply in wet on wet fashion allowing product to run down surface approximately 12 inches.
  • Maximum water and oil repellency realized in 72 hours.
  • Two coats are required using a “wet-on-wet” procedure to ensure complete coverage.
  • A test patch should be performed prior to general application with the customer’s approval to ensure that desired water repellency and appearance is achieved.

Recoating:

Substrates which are coated with ClearGuard Plus can be recoated with water or solvent borne paints.

Clean Up:

Thoroughly rinse application equipment with clean water.

Safety & Handling:

For specific information regarding safe handling of this material please refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). ClearGuard Plus can be used in a safe and environmental friendly manner. It is designed to reduce the output of VOC’s while providing the customer with a high performance water repellent.

Storage & Shelf Life:

ClearGuard Plus has a shelf-life of nine (9) months provided it is stored in tightly closed containers and protected from sunlight and stored at temperatures between 32º F (0º C) and 100º F (38º C).
